We are learning about the Exodus in Vacation Bible School. Our VBS is on Wednesdays all summer long. One thing about the whole "Let my people go" story, is that it is not a battle between Moses & Pharaoh, nor between the Israelites and Egyptians. It is a battle between Egyptian gods, a.k.a. demons, and the One True Almighty God.
God took care of His children by proving His power over the Egyptian gods. The Israelites didn't even know what was going on. All they knew is that there was blood in the Nile, frogs in their food, and blood on their doorposts, with their children alive inside. It didn't make sense to them at the time. Some of them may have never understood the significance of the blood of the lamb. Even now, thousands of years later, people still don't understand.
We provide for our children in ways they don't understand. We take care of things in the background. We pay the bills. We maintain the cars. We live on a budget. We save for their future. We pray for them, protect them, plan for them. They can trust us because we care for them.
Sometimes God is quiet. He is not obligated to explain Himself. He is fighting spiritual battles for us that we may never see. But we can trust Him because He cares for us. I need to say that again:
I can trust Him because He cares for me!
